RED FISH on FLY ROD- seadrift texas -30milesOUT fish'n TV-

on this episode of 30milesOUT, i ( ty southerland) brought california chris to sea drift texas to catch his first redfish on the fly.... chris is new to texas and the gulf south... being from san diego ca. chris had no idea what it would be like... i think the thing that hit chris first was the central texas coast heat and humidity!
we ended up launching the kayak's in seadrift in the intracoastal canal.... i was in one of my old ocean kayak scupper's and i put chris in my old wilderness systems "the ride"... since chris has bought a mantaray  14'... we cut across the canal to hit the back of dewberry island... when we got there we pulled up on a sand flat and anchored out the yaks... the mullet were everywhere... i knew it was gonna be a good day... we began to see sheep head and red's right off the bat...
i had tied up some of my ty's reddart flys for the trip.... my reddart fly pattern is great when the grass is bad... it is tied on a #6 hook... small low profile keeps grass off the fly... i had a sheep head break off right away... we then had some redfish give us some good battles... chris landed his first red on the fly... he was pumped... we kept moving down the bank line and saw a nice pod of redfish... it was great to see.... check out this episode to see how to see some great sight fishing action form the central texas coast clear water flats...
